DeWine Making Promises For Next Term
Senator Will Work For Children
COLUMBUS, Posted 10:00 p.m. EST November 7, 2000 -- Mike DeWine is making several promises for his next six-year term.
The Republican, who was re-elected Tuesday night, says that he'll work to increase money for medical research for children, reform Social Security and Medicare.
DeWine also says that he's very humbled to be the first Ohio Republican senator to get re-elected since 1952.
Several congressional races were also decided Tuesday night.
Ten Ohioans have been re-elected to two-year terms in the U.S. House, including Democrats Dennis Kucinich, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Sherrod Brown, Ted Strickland and Marcy Kaptur.
Republicans Michael Oxley, Dave Hobson, Deborah Pryce, Ralph Regula and Paul Gillmor all will return to the House.
