Several Ballots Missing In Summit County
They Probably Will Not Make Difference
COPLEY, Ohio, Updated 5:04 p.m. EST November 8, 2000 -- About 300 votes are missing that were cast in Copley Township.
NewsChannel5 reports that officials at the Summit County Board of Election have turned the building upside down looking for the ballots.
Officials don't believe that the 300 ballots would change the winners in Summit County, but the provisional ballots cannot be counted until the missing ballots are found.
One of the closest races in Summit County was for the prosecuting attorney. Michael Callahan, a Republican, lost to Sherri Bevan Walsh, a Democrat. The final count was 99,946 to 101,344.
In a previous election, a poll worker drove home with the ballots, WEWS reports.
Officials are hoping to find the ballots soon.
