NEW YORK -- After telling Americans about the election results for about 12 hours, Peter Jennings had to deal with a snafu Wednesday morning.
There was a fire in the studio at about 5:15 a.m. while Jennings was talking about a recount in Florida.
"I hate to tell you, we are on fire here at the moment," he said. "We are not always right, but we are very efficient."
Jennings gave no explanation as to what happened, but he took the time to praise the floor crew as soon as the fire was extinguished.
"The technical crew here at our headquarters has been absolutely superb someday we should have film of camera men moving as vigorously and alertly as they do. I don't there has been a flaw of any meaningful nature."
